Trade As One

Ollie the dog is undoubtably both the most loving and the least productive team member at Trade as One. He certainly puts in the hours, but spends the majority of them on the couch.  He is ready with a wag and a wiggle for all visitors, and especially for Sean the UPS man (who brings him a daily treat). Only too willing to help us with our consumables product testing, he is forbidden to leave the office and enter the warehouse where the temptation of our fair trade food items might prove too much.  At home he has actually once eaten half a bag of our Peace blend coffee beans.  I’m sorry to say the coffee did not live up to its name and he was not what could be called peaceful.  His crazy 24 hour caffeine high morphed him into the most fun-filled hyper-active canine in town.
Not wanting to miss out on the fun this holiday weekend Ollie is proud to announce that he has just tried a particularly delicious product that we sell- and has posted his first ever product review on our site this morning.

Are you within reach of Santa Cruz?  Then you are invited to attend the grand opening day party on Black Friday at Trade as One’s new retail boutique.  Forget shopping malls, traffic and early mornings!  Sleep in and then join Trade as One for a different Black Friday experience.  Start with some fair trade coffee, enjoy sampling some chocolate and make a difference around the world with your shopping. We’ll be selling all the items on the website and even a few more!
The opening day party will be on Friday November 26th at 332 Ingalls Street from 10am -6pm. There will be live music (from Jesse West, Travis Oberg, Jonathan Stowers, Simon Gugala, Barney & the Dinosaurs, and more!), fun for kids, live mural painting (check out the work in progress to the left), samples and shopping. Plus, you’ll be able to do good while making progress on your holiday shopping.

Looking for a kid’s gift, or stocking stuffers?

We’ve worked really hard this year to amp up our kid’s section – and we are getting great responses to lots of our new items.
Our funky rabbit is amazingly soft and snuggly and raises smiles all round, our two knitted dolls are great for cute little girls, we’ve bibs complete with crumb-catchers, and a whole bevy of string dolls with all-age appeal, some fun journals, sports and juggling balls.  Not to mention the advent calendar, and multiple varieties of chocolate snack bars!  Take a walk on the young side with Trade as One here.

Every weekend at this time of year sees Trade as One events happening in homes, churches and community centers all around the country. A big thank you to all the local event leads and the great volunteers who help out at these events and enable lots of people to come into contact, maybe for the first time, with Trade as One products and with the concept that we can all use our spending power to help make a difference and to bring hope and dignity to some of the world’s disadvantaged and marginalized people. The weekend before last we had a busy time with events in Kentucky, Southern California and here in Santa Cruz. The weekend just gone had us at events in Mountain View, CA, two events in the Chicago, IL area plus one in Portland, OR. Now we’re back to the warehouse getting the orders shipped and on their way.
