Product Feature: Autumn Safari Necklace
October 18, 2010 @ 10:32 PM
We are so excited about all of the new products arriving in our warehouse. Check out this beautiful necklace made from recycled paper beads by Ugandan women. Each product from Light Gives Heat comes packaged in a beautiful box with a photo and story of one of the women in the cooperative. Light Gives Heat calls this project the Suubi (meaing Hope) project, and this is a self-governing community of 60-100 women make the recycled paper bead jewelry. They meet as a group every Sunday to bead together under a jackfruit tree in the village of Walukuba. See all of their products and learn more about Light Gives Heat.

Official Launch: Hungry for Change
September 16, 2010 @ 01:52 PM
When most people think of Fair Trade food, images of Fair Trade coffee and Fair Trade chocolate come to mind. While both images are correct and yummy, we are happy to report several other Fair Trade foods are available on the market – olive oil, rice, quinoa, sugar and even spices!
At Trade as One, we think a lot about ways we can help our customers make more of their everyday purchases Fair Trade. And, how much more “everyday” can we get then the food?
We have spent the past several months researching and tasting a variety of Fair Trade foods available in the U.S. (very stressful work, but someone has to do it). The result is a new program we are very excited to share with you called Hungry for Change. Hungry for Change is designed to give you a simple way to redirect your normal spending dollars to fairly traded food products on a monthly basis.
For $33 per month, a box full of consumables from Trade as One show up on your doorstep. The box will include 4-5 products as well as a monthly recipe, a producer story and an occasional product sample or freebie (like our Eco Grocery Bag or The Better World Shopping Guide). There are some amazing perks when you sign up for a 3-month trial. (See full program details).
