More fun with animals at Catalyst
October 09, 2009 @ 08:05 AM
Now the normal thing to do would be to update our blog with another post about Catalyst and the church leaders we’re meeting. So many church leaders are catching the vision for Just One and deciding to take this idea to their congregations.
But, when you’ve got videos of Nathan meeting a porcupine, and a wallaroo, AND a video of yours truly the cameraman getting savagely attacked by a monkey, that just needs to be the focus of your blog post. So without further ado, here are the videos:
*Monkey may not be savage, and may in fact be about 2 feet tall and really cute, but I swear at the time I feared for my life.

Catalyst 09 + Just One
October 08, 2009 @ 01:02 PM
As I write this, I’m sitting in an orange chair in the middle of the social justice tent at Catalyst 09, where Nathan, Rachel and I are representing Trade as One. We’ve already connected with 50+ churches who are interested in taking the Just One idea to their churches this Christmas season. And there’s still another 24 hours or so of Catalyst to go. Our good friend Francis Chan is speaking tonight, so hopefully we’ll be able to sneak away from our booth to hear him (please don’t steal anything).
We always love being here, and I’m convinced that there’s nothing else like it. Today I’ve written my name on a man in a white suit, held a monkey, shaken hands with a 7 foot mascot, and almost had our tent blown away by a Chick Fil-A helicopter. Only at Catalyst.
Hopefully today marks the beginning of some significant partnerships with churches who will use their spending power to bring restoration and redemption to people living in the desperation of extreme poverty.

I’ve included a video of Nathan meeting the Maddy the monkey after the jump, because, come on, who doesn’t want to see Nathan meeting a monkey?
Trade as One + Advent Conspiracy
October 01, 2009 @ 11:52 AM
Today in Portland, Nathan George and Rick McKinley launched the partnership between Advent Conspiracy and Trade as One. They clearly articulated the links between the work each organization does, and laid out a vision for churches to celebrate Christmas the way it was meant to be celebrated.
